Acne Clearing Face Wash

Hello Gorgeous!

So I know that I just did a post for those of us who have dry skin in the Winter, but for this post I wanted to talk about my favorite face wash geared towards acne.

About a year ago, I went into The Body Shop with one of my friends and I purchased the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash.  I have been using this in my skincare routine for about a year now, and I have seen great results from using it.  This product does not dry my face out terribly, and it actually does work to clear my blemishes.
The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash removes excess oil, and is quite gentle.  The only thing I would caution you guys about is the smell.  If you haven't smelled tea tree oil before, it can be a potent scent.  Not a bad scent, but potent.  Also, because this face wash is made of more natural contents it doesn't lather as much as other face washes.

That being said, this stuff is amazing.  It actually works, and finding a product to cure acne is always a hard thing to do.  The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash retails for $13.00.  You can buy it at The Body Shop, which is in many malls, such as Summit Mall, or online at TheBodyShop.com.  It can also be found in store and online at Ulta, where it is also cheaper ($11).

If you suffer from acne, I urge you to give this face wash a try!

Have you ever tried this face wash?  Have you ever used tea tree oil to help clear any acne?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Shellac Nails At Home

Hello Gorgeous!

Have you ever had a shellac manicure?  I love them!  Shellac lasts on your nails for a couple of weeks without chipping, which is pretty awesome!

For Christmas, I got Sally Hansen Salon Pro Gel Kit from my older sister.  This kit comes with an LED   lamp, a gel base coat, a gel nail color, and a gel top coat.  It also comes with acetone remover.  I can't stress enough that this kit actually works!
I tried this kit on my best friend Maria, and it also worked on her nails, "My polish stayed on for about two whole weeks before chipping!  I never knew this was possible to happen with an at home kit," she said.

I will admit, the process takes time and can be tedious, but the results last.  Something that the directions in the kit do not tell you is how to make the manicure fully dry after adding the last coat of polish and curing it with the LED lamp is that: you should take a cotton round, and put some acetone on it.  Run that over each nail, and it helps to solidify the entire nail and make it completely dry.  I don't know why that isn't in the instructions, but it is absolutely necessary for the manicure to fully dry!

Overall this kit is completely worth the money!  I believe my sister paid about $50 for it at our local Target.  Though that seems like a large sum of money, if you are someone who gets their nails done frequently, this kit pays for itself after two to three uses!

Have you ever used a shellac at home kit?  Did it work or not work for you?  Leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Favorite Eyebrow Filler

Hello Gorgeous!

So, as many of us ladies know, it is all the rage right now to have full and defined eyebrows.  Recently, there have been so many new products in the beauty world to help us girls achieve those goals!

Initially, I was not totally into the idea of filling in my eyebrows to make them darker and thicker.  But, after trying out a few products and finding one that worked for my needs, filling in my eyebrows has become a huge part of my daily beauty routine.

My best friend Brooke is very big into makeup, and has probably the most extensive collection I have ever seen.  She is someone I go to when I don't know what type of product to buy to get the look I want.  After trying a couple of products, and them failing me, I gave Brooke a call.  "Try a powder product, thats what I use and it doesn't ever look over the top.  I find it to be a very natural look," she told me.  So thats what I did.

Upon doing some research into powder eyebrow fillers, I decided to head to my local Ulta to give them a look in person.  I decided to try a product by NYX, an affordable option, just incase I didn't like the powder option.  NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder provides many different color options.  Each small palette gives two shades of eyebrow powder, a small eyebrow wax, and two small brush applicators all for $5.99.  WHAT A DEAL!
I absolutely love this stuff!  I use the Brunette palette, and find that both colors work on my brows perfectly.  My favorite thing about the powder formulation is that it is very forgiving.  One of the brushes allows you to brush out your brows, which in turn brushes out some of the powder.  So, if you go in with a heavy hand and find that your brows look entirely too dark, you can brush some product out of them to lighten them up.  The powder is also easy to cleanup with a damp q-tip incase you make any mistakes.  It lasts a long time, and blends nicely into the eyebrows.  I seriously recommend this stuff, it's pretty awesome!

Do you fill in your eyebrows?  If so, what do you use and why?!  Leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Current Foundation Obsession

Hello Gorgeous!

Today, I wanted to talk to you guys about a foundation I just discovered that I am kind of obsessed with.  I have used all kinds of foundations from powder to liquid, high end to low end.

I discovered the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation about a month ago and I have been using it everyday since.  I really go for lightweight foundations with build-able coverage, and that is exactly what this foundation does for me.  I also find that it is quite hydrating to my dry skin, but does not make me oily in my T-zone.  The best thing about this foundation is the price, $7.99.  Not only does this stuff work, but it's cheap!
I generally just apply this foundation with my fingers, and it goes on perfectly for me.  I asked my friend, Live to give this foundation a try, and it worked for her too!  "I don't typically use liquid foundations, but I tried this one anyway.  I have been using it daily since I bought it.  It covers my blemishes without clogging my pores.  I love this stuff," she said.

This foundation did not make me breakout as it is oil free, and it stayed on throughout the day.  I do put a translucent powder over top of it to set the foundation, but that is all!  I love this stuff, and can't say enough good things about it!

I use the shade 105, the lightest shade, because I am super pale!  (Just incase you guys were wondering!)

Have you used this foundation before?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eye Shadow

Hello Gorgeous,

Today I want to talk to you guys about a great option for a cream eye shadow,The Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo.

(Bad To The Bronze)
I found this product a few years back in my local Target, and use it daily.  This cream eye shadow is a multifunction eye shadow in my opinion.  I wear this stuff by itself, and I also wear it underneath powder shadows.  I notice that when I wear this underneath my powder eye shadows, it gives them something to stick to and it also brightens the color of the powder shadows up a bit!

I have the Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows in two shades, one called Bad to the bronze and another called Barely Branded.  They are both beautiful, and last all day long.  When layering powder eye shadow on top, I prefer to use the Barely Branded, as it is a lighter color and makes the powder shadows pop!

(Barely Branded)

Though this is a cream shadow, it does not crease on me... which is unusual because I have very oily eyelids.  The pigmentation is great, and it blends right onto the eye.  I usually just use my finger when I apply this product, but you can totally use a brush too if you wish!

I recently did makeup for a wedding, and used this underneath the brides choices of powder shadows, "This cream shadow worked so well on me.  It helped my eye shadow to stay on even past my wedding reception without creases.  I'm so glad Jeana used this product on me," she said.

Basically, this stuff is just great.  There are tons of colors, from
shimmery to almost matte.  They look good alone, and paired with powder shadows, and they last ALL DAY LONG!  Please take my word for it, this stuff is awesome.

Have you ever tried this or a similar product?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Color Care Shampoo/Conditioner

Hello Gorgeous!

Today, I want to talk to you guys about color care shampoo and conditioner.

If your a person that colors your hair, you most likely know how important it is to have a good sulfate free shampoo and conditioner for your hair to maintain your color.  Lets be honest, we pay loads of money to have our hair colored, so investing in a good shampoo and conditioner is just that-- an investment.  PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT.  If you color your hair, and do not use a sulfate free, color safe shampoo and conditioner, your custom hair color is going to suffer.

I know buying these hair products is not always affordable, but neither is coloring your hair.  If you pay nearly $200 to get your hair cut and colored, you might as well spend the extra money for some good products to maintain your hair.  By doing so, you will be able to go longer between colors because your color will not fade nearly as bad as it would by using a shampoo or conditioner with sulfates in it.

My favorite choice for a color care shampoo/conditioner combo is the Redken Color Extend haircare system.  I use this shampoo and conditioner together, and find it to work nicely with my color, and it helps to extend the life and pigmentation of it.  This stuff isn't cheap, I'm not going to lie.  That being said, many times, Ulta Beauty will run specials on Redken products, like buy two get one free.
Together, these products preserves my color, and hydrate my hair all at the same time.  If you want to extend the life of your custom color, and protect your investment, I suggest this product!

Do you have any color care products that you recommend?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon.

Leave-In Conditioner

Hello Gorgeous!

Leave-in conditioner... what's it all about?

I have naturally curly hair, which in turn, is quite dry.  I also use my blowdryer, flat iron, and curling iron quite often so my hair suffers a significant amount of heat damage on a daily basis.  Leave-in conditioner is a product that helps add moisture to hair, while protecting it against heat styling.  The idea behind a leave-in conditioner is to provide our hair with extra moisture so that when heat styling, the moisture of the conditioner is pulled out of our hair, rather than the natural moisture our hair creates.

There are many types and many levels of leave-in conditioner, and I have tried a great deal of them.  After some time, I have found one that I feel works perfectly with the dynamics of my hair, Abba Gentle Conditioner .  My hairstylist recommended this to me a few years back and I have been hooked on it ever since, "this product is ultra gentle, and provides hair with nutrients.  I use it in my own hair daily," said Trina, my hairstylist.  I do have to admit, this product is a bit pricy, but it literally lasts forever.  I bought a big bottle of it a year ago, and I still have a little under half of the bottle left.
I use this product when I get out of the shower.  I use a nickel sized amount in the palm of my hand, and pull the product from crown of my head, all the way down to the ends of my hair.  I do not recommend putting a leave-in conditioner at the roots of your hair, as it will make it greasy.  Putting it on from the crown of your head, down will help to moisturize the driest part of your hair.

Another less expensive option for a good leave-in conditioner is Garnier Fructis Leave-In Conditioning Cream .  I bought this when I was in a pinch and was not able to get my hands on the Abba leave-in conditioner.  I will say for the cheap price, this stuff works great and is available at any drugstore.  I have repurchased it a few times, and I continue to remain impressed with it!
Do you have any leave-in conditioners that work great for you?  If so, leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Skincare Essential

Hello Gorgeous,

Let's talk about skincare!

Currently, I have been needing one essential product to make my skincare process go smoother.  My skin is quite dry around my cheeks and mouth due to the cold winter weather.  While this situation is getting better by the day, it was pretty flakey and awful these past few months.  I usually use face washes that target acne.  Though I don't have bad acne or anything, I like everyone else, get the occasional breakout.  So, I typically use acne products for preventative measures.  Usually, acne face washes tend to have salicylic acids and other things in them to dry up breakouts.  Well these things were causing my skin to be even more dry and irritated during the cold months.

I decided to look for a face wash that had more of a creamy consistency, and one that would help to hydrate my skin, rather then dry it out.  This is when I came across the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser at my local Target for about $8.99.  For a drugstore cleanser, almost $10 seemed like a bit much, but this stuff is totally worth it.

I always like Neutrogena products, I feel like they actually work, and this one is no exception to that.  My cousin Melissa also struggles with dry skin, so I suggested this product to her, "For me, this stuff helped so much with my dry skin, and it kept away my acne.  I will continue to repurchase it," she said.

The Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser has helped tremendously with my dry skin issue, and it has also kept my face fairly clear from breakouts so far.  I have been using this product for about two months now, and still have a generous amount of it left.  I will continue to repurchase it again and again, as I do with anything I am able to see results from.

Do you suffer from dry skin in the winter?  If so, what do you do to remedy the situation?  Leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Liquid Eyeliner

Hello Gorgeous,

I wanted to talk to you guys about liquid eyeliner.  Liquid eyeliner is not easy to use, so anything that makes that process easier, is something I look for.

I stumbled upon L'oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense.  This stuff is awesome.  It is a smooth black formula, and it lasts all day long.  Not only is this stuff easy to apply, and of a great consistency, but the applicator is amazing.  Using this liner with the felt tip applicator makes it easy to create all types of looks.  Winged liner is SUPER easy to do with this product, and a thin line is even easier!  I absolutely fell in love with this stuff.
When trying to buy a good liquid eyeliner, I suggest looking for something with a felt tip.  I have found that felt tip liquid liners apply much easier, and more precisely than any other type of applicator.  Not only does this product go on easily, but it is easy to clean up.  I am able to take a dampened q-tip and clean up the lines of my winged liner, to make it look the best it possibly can.

Another thing that is great about this liner is that, when it says black on the label, it means black.  This stuff is dark, and provides the ultimate intensity that an eyeliner can.

I could honestly go on and on about this product, but I hope you try it and let it speak for itself.

Have you ever used this eyeliner?  Have you ever used a felt tip liquid eyeliner?  If so, leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you.

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Spray Body Lotion, Worth The Hype?

Hello Gorgeous!

So I may be the only one, but I showed up to the spray body lotion party a tad late!

This past weekend, I headed to my local Target to pick up something to hydrate my extremely dry skin for Spring!  I have seen all the commercials for spray on body lotion, and when I saw it at the store, I decided I would give it a try.

I purchased the St. Ives Indulgent Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract Hydration Lotion Spray.  All I have to say about this stuff is, why didn't I buy it sooner?  I feel like it is way more convenient to apply than regular lotion.  It is lightweight, but hydrating all at the same time.  I always find myself rushing after a shower, so I skip the lotion step.  Honestly, this stuff makes it much quicker... as hard to believe as that may be.  Not only does this stuff actually work, it smells AMAZING.  After using it for a short period of time, I can tell a difference in my skin!
Overall, I would say this stuff is worth the hype.  I can't speak for other brands that are using the same tactic, but I can say that the St. Ives version is awesome and I will definitely be repurchasing it in the future.

Have you tried any sort of spray on body lotion?  If so, did you like it or find it to work for you?  If so, leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Product Fails

Hello Gorgeous,

Today, I want to talk about product fails.  What I mean by this is, products that did not live up to their claims, or products that just didn't work for me.  That being said, these products may work for you, and you may like them, they just did not work for me- so take this with a grain of salt!

The first product I want to talk about is the Rimmel London's Scandaleyes (Volume Flash) Mascara.  The claim on this product is that with the maxdensity brush, lashes get covered with attention from corner to corner.  I bought this product because I had never bought a Rimmel London mascara before, and I wanted to give it a try.  The large brush intrigued me as well.  However, upon using the product, it did absolutely nothing for my eyelashes.  It basically combed them straight forward, not up and out like it was supposed to.  There was no added length or volume, and I had to work with it for an excessive amount of time.  After giving this product a try for a few days, it made its way into my trashcan.  This mascara did absolutely nothing for me, and in turn I will probably not  buy a Rimmel London mascara again.  Have you tried this mascara?  If so, did or does it work for you? Rimmel Scandaleyes (Ulta.com)

The next product I want to talk about is the OGX Hydrate + Defrizz Kukui Oil Conditioner.  I had run out of my Biotin & Collagen conditioner, so I decided I wanted to try a different OGX conditioner.  This conditioner is supposed to repel humidity, while providing a smooth texture.  In my mind, conditioner is supposed to hydrate, defrizz, and detangle.  When I used this conditioner, my hair felt absolutely awful in the shower.  Usually, when I condition my hair it feels soft and almost slippery.  After rinsing out this conditioner, my hair felt coarse and honestly just bad.  Upon trying to style my hair after my shower, it was ridiculously tangled!  How does that even happen?!  Another thing I did not like about this product was the scent.  When I smelled it in the store, I liked the scent, but after using it a few times, the scent was yet another thing that turned me off from this product.  I gave this conditioner to my friend Channing to try, thinking maybe it was just my hair type.  She also had negative things to say about it though, "This product honestly made my hair unmanageable, and my hair was even more frizzy then if I used a product that was not for frizz control.  This stuff just isn't good," she said.  I did not want this product to be bad, I just wanted it to work-- and it didn't! OGX Kukui Oil Conditioner (Ulta.com)

The final product I want to add to this Product Fail's blog, is the ULTA Baked Bronzer.  I decided I would try this ULTA brand bronzer (the stores own brand).  I bought this bronzer on the recommendation of a friend, who this bronzer works for.  For me, to be honest, this stuff is junk.  Due to the winter, I am quite pale right now.  I wanted a nice bronzer to add some color to my cheeks.  The pigmentation of this stuff is awful.  When I swirled my fluffy bronzer brush in the product, barely any product showed up on the tip of my brush, and even less showed up on my cheeks.  Also, this stuff is $10.  It's not like it's a super cheap drugstore bronzer.  Needless to say, I am quite unhappy with this product.  ULTA Baked Bronzer (Ulta.com)

Alright guys, those are the products that have basically been duds for me lately.  If you guys like this type of blog, let me know in the comments below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Current Mascara Obsession

Hello Gorgeous!

Today, I wanted to tell you guys about a mascara that I am currently obsessed with.  I have always been a Maybelline mascara person.  The Colossal Lash by Maybelline was always my go to, but when I saw their new Lash Sensational at my local Target, I knew I had to give it a try.

So, this mascara is said to unfold layer upon layer of lashes for a full fan effect.  I have to say, it really does what it claims.  What is really cool about this mascara is not only the formulation, but the brush.  One part of the brush has short bristles good for combing from the root of your eyelashes.  The back side of the brush has extra long bristles which help to comb out any clumps and help to separate the lashes.

I find that this mascara allows me to reach all parts of my lashes, and it extends them to the fullest while providing volume at the same time.  When I first tried this mascara, I thought it was too good to be true.  I have tried some quite high end mascaras and not gotten results as good as I have with the Lash Sensational.  I was so impressed with this mascara, I asked my friend Shana to try it so I would have a second opinion on the topic.  "I love the Lash Sensational.  This mascara gets every part of my lashes, and makes them so long," Shana told me.  Her feedback made me want to tell you guys about this mascara even more!  Aside from being a seriously great mascara, the price tag is awesome.  I paid $7.19 at my local Target.  I am happy I gave this a try!  Lash Sensational (Target.com)

The only complaint I really have about this mascara is the process of removal.  When I wash my face at night, I usually use an eye makeup remover.  However, I currently ran out and have not gotten more.  This mascara does not come off easily with face wash and water, and thats the only thing I don't like about it.  I want my mascara to just wash off with little effort, and this one takes some extra time without eye makeup remover, so be aware of that.

Have you tried the Maybelline Lash Sensational?  Do you have a drugstore mascara that you are currently loving?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

Makeup Brushes On A Budget

Hello Gorgeous!

Let's talk affordable makeup brushes.  They are not always easy to come by, and if they are, they are not usually very good quality.  I want to provide you with a few affordable options that can be found at local drugstores, and places like Ulta Beauty.

First off, I would like to talk about Eco Tools brushes.  When I started really getting into makeup, the first makeup brushes I purchased were Eco Tools brand.  Many times, these brushes come in duos and sets.  This makes it ideal for someone who is starting their makeup collection.  What is so nice about these brushes is that they are of good quality for an affordable price.  This brand provides both face brushes, and eye brushes.  I think if you choose to buy one of their brush sets, you will not be upset with your purchase!  Eco Tools Brushes (Ulta.com)

Real Techniques is another brand with affordable makeup brushes.  Though these are slightly more pricy than the Eco Tools brushes, they are of a little better quality in my opinion.  Real Techniques brushes also come in sets, or kits, and you can also purchase the brushes singularly.  These brushes are soft, and make it easy to blend makeup.  These are some of my favorite brushes that I own, and they are well worth the purchase.  Real Techniques Brushes (Ulta.com)

Finally, I want to point out Elf makeup brushes.  Elf is an ultra affordable makeup brand sold in drugstores.  Tough these brushes are not of the best quality, for someone starting out and learning about makeup, I feel they are a good buy.  These brushes are mostly sold individually, and they generally are not over $4, which is fabulous.  Elf Brushes (Target.com)

As someone who owns some brushes from each of these brands, I can say that I am happy with all of my purchases and will continue to purchase brushes from these brands.

Have you ever used Eco Tools, Real Techniques, or Elf brushes?  If so, leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!

OGX Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Hello Gorgeous!

So today I wanted to do a quick little review for you on the OGX Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner.

First off, I'll tell you a little about my hair and why this shampoo and conditioner appealed to me.  My hair isn't thick at all, but I wouldn't say it's thin either, though it seems like it falls out a whole lot.  I also have naturally curly hair, which tends to be frizzy unless tamed.  My hair is also fairly flat when blow dried and flat ironed, and it takes a decent amount of effort to get some body into it.  All of those things put together is what made me decide that I wanted to give this shampoo and conditioner a try.

The goal of this shampoo conditioner combo is said to use biotin, collagen, and hydrolyzed wheat protein to create the appearance of thicker, fuller, healthier hair.  I have to say after using it for a few months now, I have noticed a huge difference in my hair-- especially when it comes to body.

When I use this shampoo and conditioner together, my hair feels thicker to the touch, and it looks like there is a ton of it.  It works nicely when I wear my hair naturally, but I notice the biggest difference when I blow dry my hair after using this combo in the shower.  My hair actually looks full, and it isn't flattened to my head.  I am an absolute believer in this product and encourage all of you to give it a try if you haven't already!

These products can be found at any drugstore, but I usually always buy mine at Target.  They are priced quite affordably at just around $5.79 a piece.  OGX Biotin&Collagen Shampoo/Conditioner (Target.com)

I hope you guys are able to give this shampoo and conditioner a try, and that it works for you!  If you have tried other OGX products, leave a comment below, as I would love to hear from you!

Have a great day, and I will talk to you very soon!
